When Motherhood Feels Like Survival Mode (The No-Nap Week)

I missed my usual Monday blog post this week.

And honestly… motherhood is the reason why.

My one-year-old toddler has officially been on what I call a no-nap strike, and any parent who has experienced that knows exactly what it means for mom: exhaustion.

Add in some sciatica pain running down my back and legs, and let’s just say this week has been a lot.

The Reality of the Week

Some weeks feel organized and productive.

This week has felt more like survival mode.

Between managing the toddler who refuses to nap, homeschooling responsibilities, and preparing my oldest son’s portfolio evaluation for the county, my brain has been pulled in a hundred directions.

And when your body is hurting on top of everything else, it makes even the small tasks feel big.

The Side of Motherhood We Don’t Talk About Enough

This is the part of motherhood people don’t always talk about.

The exhausting weeks.

The unpredictable toddler schedules.

The moments when you’re running on very little sleep but still showing up for your kids.

Motherhood isn’t always aesthetic routines and perfectly planned days.

Sometimes it’s messy.

Sometimes it’s tiring.

But it’s still meaningful.

Taking a Breather

This weekend I’m hoping to take a small breather. Not a big reset, just a moment to pause.

Maybe that looks like slowing down our schedule.

Maybe it means resting when the baby finally naps.

Or maybe it simply means giving myself grace for not doing everything perfectly this week.

If you’re in a similar season right now… Tired, overwhelmed, or just trying to get through the week, you’re not alone.

Some weeks are about thriving.

Other weeks are about simply making it through.

Sometimes all we need is a small pause to recharge.

And both count.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or mentally stretched thin, I created a simple reset resource for moms to help you slow down and refocus.
