Mom In The Messy Middle

Motherhood in the Messy Middle
Motherhood is beautiful, exhausting, and often messy.
You don’t have to do it perfectly.

If you’re homeschooling, chasing toddlers, nursing your baby, navigating postpartum, or simply carrying the weight of motherhood day after day, I want you to know that you’re not alone.
Motherhood changes us. Some days are beautiful, and some days feel exhausting. Maybe you’re running on broken sleep, struggling with body image, carrying the mental load, or wondering when you’ll feel like yourself again.
Mama, you are not behind.
There is no deadline for healing, no award for doing it all, and no shame in moving slowly. You don’t have to have everything together to be doing a good job.
If all you did today was love your children, feed your baby, teach a lesson, or simply make it through the day—that is enough.
In this beautiful, exhausting, messy middle, God sees you. He is sustaining you, and His grace for today is enough.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
Give Yourself Permission to Rest
Rest is productive, too.
Not every free moment has to be spent catching up on chores. Sit down while the baby naps. Watch a show. Read a few pages of a book. The laundry can wait.
Get Outside Every Day
Fresh air can do wonders for everyone.
Take your homeschool outside, go for a stroller walk, sit on the porch with your coffee, or let the kids play while you soak up a few minutes of sunshine.
Don’t Forget to Nourish Yourself
Motherhood often has us feeding everyone else while forgetting ourselves.
-
Keep a water bottle nearby.
-
Eat protein-rich snacks.
-
Don’t skip meals.
-
Especially if you’re nursing, your body needs fuel.
Spend a Few Quiet Minutes With God
It doesn’t have to be an hour-long Bible study.
Read one verse.
Listen to worship music.
Pray while washing dishes.
Invite God into the ordinary moments.
Prioritize Sleep When You Can
Broken sleep seasons won’t last forever.
Go to bed earlier.
Leave the dishes.
Say no to unnecessary obligations.
Rest is not laziness.
Create Simple Rhythms, Not Perfect Schedules
Homeschooling, toddlers, and motherhood are unpredictable.
Focus on:
-
Morning time.
-
Core subjects.
-
Outside play.
-
Quiet time.
-
Family dinner.
Simple rhythms bring peace without pressure.
Find Small Joys
You don’t need an entire day off to care for yourself.
-
Drink your coffee while it’s hot.
-
Light a candle.
-
Listen to a podcast.
-
Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable.
-
Step outside for five minutes.
Little things matter.
Speak Kindly to Yourself
Your body carried life.

Gentle Reminder
Mama, if all you did today was feed your baby, read one chapter, change diapers, hug your children, and make it through the day, you did enough.
There is grace for today, and that is enough.
